Absolutely. I don’t deny the Steves’ genius, but it’s particularly grating to hear Andrew say they worked separately rather than as a team to emphasise his point that apparently *everything* comes from individual genius…

As talented and visionary as the two Steves are, or were, their products built on the developments within the Silicon Valley computer enthusiast community.

There’s a far more convincing argument that Apple, and Silicon Valley itself, are the result of crowds working together.

Thanks Martin. Andrew was kind enough to give me and some other speakers at TNW2012 a pre-release copy of his book so I’ll have a read. In fact in his presentation at the Summit he said he agreed with me that crowds were the future of everything, but that that is a bad thing. He may be optimistic about human creativity, but he says that the only meaningful creativity is individual, which is just plain wrong.
