I need to judge for every audience the right balance between scaring and exciting people. The future IS scary. But we need to focus on whatever it is that motivates people to action, and that is far more often excitement.

I particularly like the reminder and call to action: “The future does not happen, it is created.”

I used to put it this way: “If you don’t want to embrace the future, just wait for the future to embrace you.” Then I realized it scared people into inaction.
